UWI to Host Grand Final as T&T and Jamaica Face Off in International Reparation Debate 2026

The UWI Regional Headquarters, Jamaica, W.I., Friday, April 17, 2026—Can T&T win back-to-back? Or will Jamaica take it back? The stage is set. The arguments are sharpened. The stakes have never been higher.

The Centre for Reparation Research at The University of the West Indies is pleased to announce the Grand Final of its International Reparation Debate Competition 2026, taking place on Wednesday, April 22, at (10:00 AM EST/JA), at The UWI Regional Headquarters in Jamaica.

After weeks of rigorous debate, intellectual sparring, and unforgettable moments, it all comes down to Our Lady of Fatima College (Trinidad and Tobago) vs Clarendon College (Jamaica).

One team is chasing history. The other is chasing redemption.

Our Lady of Fatima College enters the final with the weight and confidence of a nation that knows how to win. But Clarendon College, last year’s runners-up, returns with unfinished business and something to prove.

Adding to the excitement, the Grand Final will be hosted by renowned Jamaican journalist and broadcaster Dionne Jackson Miller, bringing her signature poise and sharp engagement to this historic occasion.

The International Reparation Debate Competition—currently in its second year—kicked off on February 9. It provides a regional platform, especially for Caribbean youth, to engage critically with the history and future of reparatory justice while developing research, advocacy, and public speaking skills.

This event transcends a mere debate; it is a vigorous clash of ideas, preparation, and purpose, where the next generation confronts some of the most pressing questions surrounding reparatory justice.
